I am not adopted, but this book review makes me want to hear adopted people's stories--not from a voyeuristic motivation but just because I care. I hope that doesn't sound clueless or tone deaf.
Welcome, Tami! Susan’s book is wonderful. And a fabulous resource for readings from adopted people’s perspectives is Karen Pickell’s Adoptee Reading database at http://adopteereading.com.
I can’t speak for everyone, of course, but many adopted people I know who write do it because we believe our stories need to be heard -- and since the dominant narrative of adoption is written by the industry and adoptive parents.
